So far, money spent on cancer research has been no more effective than prayer. Cancer is usually a consequence, like deaths from drunk driving. There is plenty of money for research on cancers not caused by lifestyle choices such as smoking and obesity.

I agree with you Sacto, that the money could be spent on something "more" useful. There is nothing wrong with the prayer.

I didn't say anything negative about prayer. You needn't be so defensive. I merely pointed out that that the $90,000 could have gone directly toward finding a cure, rather than promoting their own web site. Everyone with cancer deserves the best wishes, deepest prayers, kindest words, etc. I personally feel that the money, in this case, could have been better spent and my thoughts do not necessarily reflect those of the web site, its owners, or any other authors. Thank you for your concern.

Why is it a bad thing to have someone asking for prayer for our family members with cancer? I thought this website was suppose to be encouraging and informative but you just did the opposite. I have had experiences where prayer was the only thing that worked for my family members and friends who battled cancer. Are we not all in this together? Why such harshness and unnecessary slighting of someone with a heart for praying for a cure. If it were me battling the cancer I would be thrilled to have people all over praying. As far as self promotion...are you sure that's not what you just did? It sounds like you are personally against prayer. So, that's ok it is your choice, but it is also other's choice to pray and I am guessing that if any other cancer survivors or those battling right now were asked..they would be blessed to receive prayer.

I hope you would reconsider your efforts when highlighting other organizations working for the same goal you are. We should be supporting one another....not tearing one another down.
